Recessed lights categorized by size

Recessed lights are categorized by "size". The most usual sizes (residential) are 4-inch, 5-inch and 6-inch. 

But! It is not a measure of the outside of the lamp trim. Recessed lights size refers to the inside diameter of the housing (“can”) with the trim or LED module removed.
